When Ms. Abreu entered Inner Voice’s SHP program in October 2025, after experiencing housing instability, she had a clear goal in mind: finding a safe and stable place, with enough space to welcome her family; especially her grandchildren.

With help from her Case Manager, she continued applying for housing opportunities while working toward that goal. Along the way, Ms. Abreu saved her money, remained hopeful, and kept moving forward.

Nearly a year later, that persistence paid off.

On September 14, Ms. Abreu learned that she had been approved for an affordable two-bedroom apartment. She paid her security deposit and first month’s rent: and she didn’t waste any time getting started on her next chapter.

Today, she is moving from an SRO into her new two-bedroom home and successfully completing the SHP program.

Her Case Manager couldn’t be happier for her, sharing that Ms. Abreu “saved her money and didn’t give up her faith.”

For Ms. Abreu, her new apartment represents more than additional space. It’s a place where she can settle in, welcome the people she loves, and make new memories with her family and grandchildren.
