Born and raised in Chicago, Jackie attended and graduated from Wright Junior College before attending and graduating from Northern Illinois University. She began her 29-year career with the City of Chicago in 1975 in positions including Mobile Crisis Intervention Worker (20th Police District), Shelter Clearinghouse Coordinator; Assistant Director of Legislative and Community Affairs; Director of Homeless Services; Assistant Commissioner, Division of Family Support Services; and Commissioner, Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development.
After retiring in 2004, Jackie consulted in the areas of workforce development and homeless services. In June of 2012 she joined the board of The Inner Voice, Inc. and became CEO that September. A former Chair of the Board of Directors of Chicago’s Continuum of Care, Jackie was appointed by Mayor Rahm Emanuel to the Chicago Low Income Trust Board in September, 2018. Jackie serves on numerous other committees and commissions. All of Jackie’s kids have paws and they all currently live in Logan Square.
Diana Mitchell, Chief Program Officer
Diana Mitchell provides the day-to-day leadership and management that mirrors the adopted mission and core values of the agency. Diana is a goal-oriented, high energy, hands-on professional, with a successful record of accomplishments in the field of supportive services. She is detailed oriented and program centered with a strong commitment to facilitating the needs of disadvantaged individual/families within the homeless, veterans and special needs populations. Ms. Mitchell has been with Inner Voice for 18 years in various positions. She lives in Chicago with her husband, mother and five grown children. Ms. Mitchell celebrated 18 years in recovery in November 2018 and was once a resident in the agency’s emergency shelters with her six children.
Khurram Navaid, Chief Financial Officer
As CFO, Khurram Navaid is responsible for Inner Voice’s financial matters including budgeting, analyzing and audit work. Before joining Inner Voice, Khurram worked for over 20 years in the field of Accounting and Finance in his home country of Pakistan.
In his free time, Khurram enjoys photography, sports and cooking.

Pia Kanoy, Director of Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program
Born and raised in Badenheim, Germany, Pia immigrated to the United States in 1981 and joined the US Army in 1985. She served 30 years in various leadership positions as Drill Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, twice as a First Sergeant, and the last 10 years as a Sergeant Major. She deployed to Saudi Arabia during the First Gulf War and served 14 months in the Middle East during 2007-2008. Her last assignment was at the Pentagon. After retiring from the military, Pia attended DePaul University and earned a master’s degree in management.
Carol Mjoseth, Director of Development
After spending most of her career working in consumer marketing for some of America’s best-loved retailers, Carol recently switched to the nonprofit sector. She has worked for an urban workforce development organization and a women's recovery home. In her role at Inner Voice, Carol is responsible for fundraising and marketing communications.

Monika Mader, Executive Manager
Monika Mader’s journey with Inner Voice began in June of 1999, when she began volunteering a couple of days a week to refresh her job skills. Initially hired in October 1999 as Administrative Assistant, Inner Voice’s longest-term employee’s responsibilities now include Human Resources, Payroll, Employee Benefits, IT Troubleshooter, Life Skills Coach and Other Duties as Assigned – LOTS of those! She also serves as Inner Voice’s unofficial historian.
