Eddie Beard Homeless Veterans’ Housing Program (Vet House)

The Eddie Beard Homeless Veterans’ Housing Program (Vet House) targets veterans who have lived on the streets, in emergency shelters, in places not meant for human habitation or released from an institution where they resided for less than 90 days and were homeless prior to being institutionalized.

Participants live with multiple challenges such as mental illness, drug/alcohol addictions, HIV/AIDS, physical and/or developmental disabilities, PTSD, educational and work skills deficiencies, and long histories of chronic homelessness and justice involvement.

Vet House employs a low-barrier admissions policy with no preconditions regarding income or sobriety and serves 15 male veterans experiencing homelessness.

The Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem Program (GPD)

The Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem Program (GPD) provides transitional housing funded by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The GPD is a companion program of the Eddie Beard Veterans Housing program that supplements the operating budget and includes:

o   GPD Low-Demand Housing program provides seven beds utilizing a harm reduction framework to accommodate chronically homeless veterans who were unsuccessful in traditional housing programs.

o   GPD Bridge Housing program provides eight beds to assist veterans already matched with a housing provider, who need to complete the necessary steps to finish the process and obtain permanent housing.

Pioneer House Interim Housing Program (PH)

The Pioneer House Interim Housing Program (PH) serves single males, 18 years or older, who have lived on the streets, in emergency shelters, in places not meant for human habitation or released from an institution where they resided for less than 90 days and were homeless prior to being institutionalized. Participants live with multiple challenges such as mental illness, drug/alcohol addictions, HIV/AIDS, physical and/or developmental disabilities, PTSD not connected to military engagement, and educational and work skills deficiencies, and have low or no income and long histories of chronic homelessness and justice involvement.

Pioneer House Transitional Housing employs a low-barrier admissions policy with no preconditions regarding income or sobriety and serves 13 homeless men.
