“Let me tell you about Jason. He is one of our success stories,” says Ian Estinor, Employment Placement Specialist, Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program (HVRP) at Inner Voice. Ian recounts with a smile that, earlier this year, Jason had heard about a job fair at Navy Pier. He showed up for it a day early, and talked with one of the managers who was heading the fair. “Jason wanted the manager to know that he was really interested in working there. He had brought his resume and was hired on the spot. He’s been promoted several times in a short period of time. He is a really motivated guy.”
Of his experience with Inner Voice, Jason says, “I came to Inner Voice during a very difficult period in my life. At first I was a little reluctant, not knowing what to expect. I have to confess it was probably one of the best decisions I have ever made. The entire process was really easy, and the entire staff are very dedicated to helping veterans in need. I learned very quickly that if you do as the staff asks, they will be 100% committed to helping you, from getting you the tools or whatever you need, from personal hygiene items to certificates needed for employment.
“I have since found my calling, and have been promoted twice, and I cannot thank Inner Voice enough for never giving up and always having a positive outlook from everyone. I actually feel every time I go to the office more like family than a corporation. I cannot stress this enough: if you’re a veteran and are struggling, take the first step and go see the Inner Voice staff. I can, from experience, let you know you will not be disappointed.”
